Farewell my friends!

I recently had my tonsil and adnoids out. I also had a septoplasty. They straightened out my septum and removed bones from my nose. It wasn't too bad actually! I enjoyed my one night stay at the hospital and I enjoyed a two week break from school. I had very awesome nurses and Dr. Gibb and Dr. Crowley were great too.

Tuesday 17th:

7:30AM: Leave to the hospital.

8:30AM: Check in, register, ect. Pre-op room. Get an IV.. Which ended up "blowing" and I had to get a new one.

9:00AM: The doctor comes in, talks to me, gives me happy medicine.

9:30AM: I get wheeled away into surgery.

11:30AM: I wake up in the recovery room, eat some ice. Spit up some blood.. Etc.. This is also
where I saw the naked old man and I saw his butt...

12:00PM: They wheel me into a room in Post op, where my parents are waiting. We hang out here until my pain gets to a 4 on a scale of 1-10. In this time, I peed at LEAST 20 times.

5:30 PM: I get moved up to the 6th floor and I meet the nurse thats gonna take care of me. I
dring some chicken broth and I get loaded up with more pain meds :)

7:30PM: my dad brings my mom dinner from costa vitas and they eat.

9:30PM: My mom leaves and I TRY to get some sleep.

10:30PM-7:00AM is all kind of a blur. I remember my very nice nurse coming to check on me every hour and load my IV with morphine, norrco and anti naseua medicine.. I remember peeing at least 27 times too.

Wednesday 18th:

7:30: Dr. Gibb comes to remove packing and straws from my nose.. (I will never EVER look at
drinking straws the same.

8:00: I lay around and watch some TV. I try to eat breakfast.. No luck.

9:00: More TV. and peeing. My mom gets to the hospital and we talk to the doctor and nurses about me leaving.

10:30: I get out of the blood soaked hospital gown and put my normal clothes on. Pack up all of
my stuff.

11:00: I get in the car and go home.

I slept a lot when I got home. It was nice to be back home in my own bed.

Day 2 (thursday): the pain in my throat was baout a 6. In my nose it was about a 4. I ate lots of chicken broth. Slept a lot and watched like 40 movies.

Day 3 (friday): Throat pain about an 8. Nose pain, still about a 4.

Day 4 (saturday): Finally starting to feel decent. I laid around. Ate mashed potatoes.. watched tv.

Day 5: (sunday) I felt pretty ok. Not really hungry at this point. Throat pain at about a 5 and nose paing still a 4.

Day 6: (monday) Pain is fine. Throat is a 4, nose is still a 4.

Day 7: (tuesday) Sort of a crappy day. Probably the worst day. My throat killed. My throat was a 9 on a scale of 1-10. My nose was a 6.

Day 8: (wednesday) I tried eating some chille.. 20 minutes later, I started bleeding. I was able to gargle ice water and stop the bleeding after a half hour.

Day 9: (thursday) Thanksgiving day. Thanksgiving night was a hectic one. Hectic is actually an understatement. But, Im choosing to keep this blog clean :) ANYWAY.. So thanksgiving day.. I ate popcorn.. and mashed potatoes.. The doctors said I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was comfortable. They told me the chances of bleeding were less than 1% and I had already bled once.. so the chances of bleeding again were low. Well, at about 12 am. I wake up with a mouth full of blood. I rush to the bathroom and the blood literally runs in a steady stream out of my mouth. My cousin, (who stayed here for thanksgiving) got my mom and we both knew I was bleeding really bad. I started gargling Ice water and before the cold could reach my throat, the warm blood would take over. We get my dad, get in the car (where I fill a large 9 OZ bowl with blood) and we drive to the ER. Before we get there.. i notice the blood has stopped and we turn around to go home. My dad passes out on the way home.. Most likely because of all of the blood and the whole situation.
WELL.. Around 2 am.. the same thing happens. I wake up with a mouth full of blood. And a HUGE stomach ache. My cousin gets my mom. This time Im not bleeding as bad.. The only problem was.. I had swalloed so much blood.. and I started throwing up. We get in the car again to head to the ENT'S office, where we meet DR. GIBB. The surgeon. And, I again, fill the 9-10 OZ bowl more than once. (pouring it on the road) as we drive. I get my throat fixed. And Dr. Gibb removes the HUGe plastic splints from my nose. (which I had NO idea they were still in there)

Day 10: (friday) I felt drained all day. They think i lost 1-2 pints of blood. Which by the way. I passed out after donating 1 pint of blood last year at school. I guess my body can't handle losing blood. My throat pain is a little worse today.. Like a 9. My nose feels better. Maybe a 3?

Day 11: (saturday) I decide to get up and get ready for the day. I go to the store with my family. I was pretty tired. probably Still exhausted from losing the blood. My throat is a 4 and my nose is surprisingly a 6!

Day 12: (sunday) I try to go to church. I feel crappy still. I went home early and slept. My throat is a 4 still. my nose is still a 6.

day 13: (monday) I go to a doctors appointment. Dr. Crowley, the physicians assistant, gets to hear all about our thanksgiving adventure.

Day 14: (tuesday) I go to school. I feel like crap. My head hurts. I feel weak, tired and sad. My throat is a 3 and my nose is an 8. Which they said would happen.

From there I was basically fine. I am still about 95% myself. I only say that because I totally miss the hospital. I miss the awesome doctors and nurses. IM SAD ITS ALL OVER!! :( :( My throat pain is little enough that its not on the scale. But it still hurts. My nose is seriously a 2. It hurts still. And If i touch it or wipe it its a 3 or 4. Its super sensitive.

I had a good experience. I am deciding if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I totally want to go back. It was great. Is recommend Dr. Gibb and his awesome Assistan Dr. Crowley to anyone. They are the best ENT's i've ever been to. And I've been to a few. I would also recommend Utah valley regional Medical Center to anyone having surgery. THEY WERE AMAZING.

PS. I Recommend that you watch the video :) Its not long. Its cool. :) Unless you dont think you can handle it. If you can, Click "septoplasty" in the first paragraph and "splints" in the other paragraph!! PEACE.
